Yearn Design Concept (homepage for novice users)

Worst case if the themes don’t get “officially” implemented, we can still make a simple greasemonkey script for custom waifus haha

yah this sounds good. Have a theme selection menu.

I like the playful design with waifu! I would be happy to see it in production!

love this work. Just as a point of reference, here is the current SNX makeover: https://blog.synthetix.io/new-synthetix-visual-brand/

I also have to speak up for the waifus. It’s rare for design to speak so clearly to the weird and unique culture of any project, and this does. It’s so damn authentic and amazing it hurts. Never ever think about what we should do or what’s expected. What is us? That’s the question, and this design absolutely nails it.

More UX, structure, features, copy etc needed but the style has, IMO, been determined. (It’s waifus.)

And to be clear: I want this in the production live site. Not an add-on or script. I like the toggle (light-waifu, dark-waifu, non-waifu) and would suggest defaults to light-waifu.

Just read the replies to this tweet and imagine not doing this.

The flow of this design is fantastic. I would opt out of the anime and put some cool curve type shit in there instead to look smart but yeah

Would be cool to open up the Waifu areas on the site to the community. Anyone could make art and submit it to be showcased on the site.

Toggle gets bigger!

Pouët does this with their logos, there are thousands submitted to date and it’s quite fun to refresh for the new ones.

My 2 cents,
Completely agree that trying to satisfy some bullshit tradfi or silicon valley generic idea of what a financial service should present as is not just unnecessary, but probably detrimental. We have a core community of cult followers, and we shall spread the word of Yearn far and wide. And the numbers speak for themselves…
Down with the cancer of conformity!

Ok, but please keep in mind the mass of potential future users who are not part of the cult.

Apple started as a cult niche product company. It is well known that starting with a passionate early community can be extremely important to future success and mass adoption.

Totally agree - theme switchable (light n dark mode) ?

they don’t want to see what they’ve seen. they will come for what we are. it’s easy to be afraid of showing your true character, we have all tried to modify ourselves for others, to fit what they expect of us. we know how that story goes. it’s the same for yearn. the work is to find our voice in this medium, not find out what someone else thinks our voice should be.

that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t work to understand our user, we have to, it’s critical. but I feel pretty strongly (as I’m sure you can tell) that the look and feel, the vibe, the style, should be an authentic representation of the yearn spirit and not tailored to some market analysis.

Can anyone please tell me if YFFI is a fork of yearn.finance or it’s fake ? Bit off topic but just want to know wether to invest or not I noisy 1k at $8 now it’s up over $300 anyone please help me thanks in advance

Really love this design - pairing anime characters with concepts within the Yearn vaults opens so many cool ideas. Would love to see some concept art that leverages the sci-fi side of what the vaults are doing, then rendered in anime style by a great illustrator. Ideas could integrate memes from other protocols, mechanics and names for vaults, etc. Can be sexy, far out, funny while still acting as a good communicative icon for reference and interpretation. Seems like it accesses the good parts of what the Waifus do, without being beholden to them.

Props!
