Gas costs are too damn high

Is the bot open source? Maybe we can all share the fees.

Thank you for that. I’m in.

yes i think this is needed.

I definitely think this gas problem needs to be solved before any extra performance fees are passed onto YFI Stakers, But I think these two issues could actually be combined.

If we could figure out a reasonable “Performance Fee” that at bare minimum would always be able to cover the gas costs, and anything left over could be split between the treasury and YFI Stakers in a set ratio.

Is this YIP open for voting yet?

I’ve staked my YFI but when I go to the voting dashboard it says there are “no proposals” open.

I think this one already passed as an emergency off-chain vote here.

Thanks @dudesahn

That would explain it then. I guess there are no proposals open for voting at the moment.

Do you know if the 3 day rule to claim after voting is still in effect or has that been changed?

I believe voting is moving entirely to the snapshots page. For instance, there is a new proposal up from Andre about burning the YFI token keys so no more minting can be done.

Yearn is planning to move to gasless voting on the snapshots page (after a vote on it), and users will be able to claim rewards following votes there. There was a long thread on proposed changes, and I summarized it in a post here if you’d like to read.

Thanks. That’s exactly what I was looking for. :ok_hand:t2:

You’re gone for a few weeks and YFI changes so quickly that when you come back and check in the forums so much has changed. Wow, very impressed with the speed this project is taking.

Newbie here, agree gas fees are too high. I’ve paid gas to register to vote but there doesn’t seem to be any proposals. Can the “open” button be changed to “open voting proposals” and the “done” button be changed to “closed voting proposals” so its is bit clearer? If that’s what is represents? Please correct me if I’m wrong.

Perhaps there is a way to use the treasury to pre-purchase gas when the prices are lower and store them as tokens. I think this is how the CHI token is working, and I heard of a concept token doing a similar thing called SGAS.

I don’t know the technicalities of these processes, but they seem worth consideration.

Exactly. I refuse to pay a gas cost that’s clearly usury.

Looks like we may have just moved to gasless voting using Snapshot.
