Agree, Kirby will probably need another person to help handling the communications?
Executed, see transaction. The proposal was amended in the following way after more thorough discussion:
- Since multisig keeps assets in yUSD vault, yUSD was declared an official internal unit of accounting. To keep things simple, we’ll just use yUSD amounts, that allows indexing salaries, grants, etc automatically, like CHAI. And this means everyone gets a 14% bump already.
- Andre has rejected his compensation (we’ll keep trying), it was decided to use these 9000 yUSD for 3 community grants, each worth 3000 yUSD.
- tracheopteryx was bumped from 7000 to 8000 yUSD
- We have onboarded Doggie to work on Strategy QA. He’s a core dev of Vyper and he’ll be helping us with testing.
- We’ve issued a grant to x48 for his work on https://vaults.finance and an undisclosed future integration.
The final list looks like this:
- Artem (organizational ops) - 8000 yUSD
- Klim (organizational ops) - 8000 yUSD
- tracheopteryx (organizational ops) - 8000 yUSD
- learnyearn (communication ops) - 7000 yUSD
- Franklin (communication ops) - 7000 yUSD
- Gismar (community faciltator) - 3000 yUSD
- Dark Ghostly (community faciltator) - 3000 yUSD
- Facu (community faciltator) - 3000 yUSD
- Doggie (strategy qa) - 8000 yUSD
- x48 (grantee) - 3000 yUSD
We’ll be issuing more grants for the projects in the ycosystem, stay tuned.
Thank you all for the hard work

Ps. Hope they can convince a full time in house security/auditor/opsec they love and respect soon. It’s the missing drummer.
This is extremely important. Can we create a separate proposal to create this role?

P.s. Sorry I called you a dick that time. You cool.
No need. We are working on this. Ideally we want to work with two auditing firms and keep them on retainer. We’ve reached out to everyone but for now they are all booked. We have some great sympathizers like samszsun who have been looking after us since early days.
Sending you a DM, I might be able to help connect you to a few other qualified auditors.
Why is Andre getting only $9k?
AFAIK, it’s very hard to give that man any money, he refuses to accept it. I agree with you, it’s very low for what he has done, but it’s something.
To echo an earlier comment, Andre being so resistant to a cash payout just means he’s driven by different incentives.
If I were to hazard a guess, I’d say Andre is a lot like Elon Musk in that he’s not doing this for the money. He wants to build something that matters, perhaps in homage to the builders whose shoulders he’s standing on. And to be loved for it, rather than be paid for it, since that’s the only way to tell if what he’s building really matters.
So IMO to reward him, we should reinforce the fact that the community genuinely cherishes him. Not just for what he’s built and how he’s made a lot of people rich with his generosity. But because he gives meaning to a space which is so often only driven by money.
A couple of easy ideas to start with:
-
Name the 1% yearn Gitcoin contribution, the “Andre Grant”
-
Make the term “Cronje Organization” more popular
“He refuses to accept money” isn’t good enough for me. We, as a community, can decide to give him more and he has to accept that (because he no longer controls YFI).
This month, the proposed $9k was split into three $3k community grants– so it’s not as if it went to waste, it just didn’t go directly to Andre. It instead supported the Yearn ecosystem.
Perhaps a solution would be to use the $9k (or more, as you suggested) to buy back YFI monthly and send to Andre? In a previous post @banteg mentioned that Andre has accepted all YFI sent to him because they are votes, not money.
Andre is a sovereign being. He gets to decide what he accepts, as do you and every other sovereign being. He is not ruled by this governance body, Yearn is.
Opinions are great, mine is that we should respect people’s choices and not force anyone to do anything.
If he is straight up not accepting stable/cash, then we can’t force him. But from what I understand he does accept YFI. So it’s not like we don’t have options.
