Nomination for Roles (Multisig to Approve/Execute)

Here, here. I love your team lead empowerment idea.

Huge thanks to all the listed people for the incredible work they have all done. They definitely deserve to be compensated for what they managed to make of yearn.

TL;DR Yes.

Don’t underestimate memes, LINK wouldn’t make it to Top 10 without. Documentation, explainers, education and timely tweets. Communication work grows exponentially with users. Code doesn’t, code scales.

Do consider this a start. Just a start, a token of thanks. Can always vote to raise certain roles over others based on performance or needs later. It also sounds like the group already talked to each other (except Andre) and concluded they want the amounts to be modest and to nearly equal to each other. So I’m happy with these numbers if that’s what they’ve discussed with each other.

Repeat: these are NOT salaries. They are tokens. If it was about market rate comp package, it would be 2x-5x all around in fiat, PLUS 0.2% to 5% equity of the entire marketcap in YFI and some serious benefits packages. Salaries would taint the good thing that’s going. And nothing would ever be enough, really. Salaries are a collar; they don’t want collars.

Ps. Hope they can convince a full time in house security/auditor/opsec they love and respect soon. It’s the missing drummer.

Everyone on the list has brought a few thousand times more value to YFI (and that’s not a hyperbole) than the compensation we’re discussing. All of them are compensated below market rate for the combination of their roles/competence/community involvement. A lot of heroes remain unsung yet. If anything, we should be increasing these numbers.

All for it

Fully behind all of the above roles.

Each and every person mentioned has gone above and beyond to take this project to the next level.

Long live the yEarn dream team!

Yes! lets pay the core team whatever they think is fair and move on…honestly they have been doing a great job so far. Our primary focus needs to be on launching groundbreaking defi products that set the standard for the industry.

Finally made my gov account just to respond in agreement with this.

I can personally say blue kirby has been amazing for me. I’ve shared his site and tweets to so many people. He is constantly invigorating the community to a level only surpassed by Andre. Marketing is always underappreciated in the tech world.

One potential tradeoff I see is it disincentives the runner-up Blue Kirby, etc. How does someone enter the salary citadel at yearn? Might be worth putting out these guidelines ahead of time, or adjusting the mechanism to better support marginal time/energy/brain commitment.

Love these candidates though, and Id love to support.

I love the idea of compensation but agree with others we should think more about how it works. This is all brand new. I love Blue Kirby but also think that’s a bit high compared to the devs like Banteg and Andre. Another factor is someone like Blue Kirby probably accumulated a lot of YFI already, whereas im not sure that’s the case for the devs. Someone above said $7k/mo means little to Blue Kirby so maybe they can be paid some amount in more YFI to keep incentives, reward, but not just give cash. I’m confident we can figure out a good way to do this. I thought tracheopteryx above comment was on point.

We have an extremely well-respected, if not the best one, already working closely reviewing contracts. But we invite any security auditors to reach out to (can be any of multi-sigs) to express their interest, security is always an area to be taken seriously and improved upon.

Yeah, the devs mostly missed on returns cause they were busy shipping lol

Awesome!! Again, the team knows best what the team wants so any discussion about the amounts of comp I generally defer to the amounts they discussed together. (At some point, we might want to bring in said contract reviewer with some comp if appropriate, but I can imagine they have another employment or something that would make it awkward…at the same time, it makes sense to align incentives, even if they are just tokens of appreciation and not formal salaries.)

But if these are the numbers they talked to each other about and makes them happy, for whatever reason, I defer to whatever they proposed . (It seems pretty clear to me that they want all their comps to be very close to each other to keep things equalish. It’s not like a corporation or each $K representing Google L7-L9 levels, it’s more like a rock band? Equalish parts in the band, keeps the band together longer. The important part is the music, whether lead singer or drummer.)

Yeah, I’m personally very aware of that and fully support massive compensation. I like the idea of paying devs, some retroactively, in YFI. This aligns incentives, rewards work, puts buy pressure on YFI, which should make all of our holdings go up.

I also think a defacto policy of rewarding people in YFI is a bullish narrative for YFI. It will be baked into the protocol there will be buy pressure, even if whoever receives it can choose to immediately sell it if they wish.

Those are good points. Ultimately I’m happy to go along but since this is brand new it’s worth thinking of innovative ways to achieve an optimal outcome.

This is a no brainer. The team is shipping at lightspeed and we shouldn’t be penny-pinching at this stage in the game. Also a paltry sum to be paying a meme lord like blue kirby considering the compensation that other protocols are rewarding it’s founders/builders

This is an obvious YES. This is how we show the market how we value the people that bring most value to the ecosystem. Not only that, I think we should strive to keep these compensations high, by doing that we are forcing the industry to start paying better wages to their workers or else they know they can always just come to us and we will take care of them.
This is how we start setting standards.

A monthly fixed salary usually don’t keep people motivated in the long term. I would rather suggest a fixed+variable approach. Would also solve the depreciation of the salary denominated in USD. The reverse bitcoin-pizza effect. 1 pizza = 7k USD = 1 cronje

Salaries here seem more than fair. It’s enough to live off but clearly not exploiting the value from the pools. That can be done fairly with the rest of us.
