Was there an initial “issue” or “trading” price for YFI either on Yearn or Curve? If so what was it and how was it determined?
It’s valueless governance token. Open market determined its price.
There was no price. It was effectively given out for free. Once in receipt of the free YFI they could decide to exchange on the open market at market based exchange rate.
like others said here, price is merely determined by the market. Someone created a YFI/ETH pair on uniswap, decided how much ETH one YFI should be worth, and it took off from there.
@dudesahn thank you for the response. Is there anyway too find out what the opening price was on Uniswap?
That’s the easiest, not 100% sure it’s the first time liquidity was added, but it’s probably pretty close. To be 100% certain you would need to query the contract for that pair at whatever block the liquidity was added, but this is probably good enough.
