@saltyfacu looks like there is an issue with the snapshot vote, I just tried but can’t vote (no proposed option)

Hey guys! I made a mistake and the voting starts today in 7 hours. At that time you will be able to vote.
My bad, all the good art clouded my mind.
I’m quitting this contest. I’d appreciate it if my artworks are removed from the poll. This contest isn’t about artistry anymore, it’s about who you are friends with.
Originally the judges were supposed to elect the winner. But now that has changed and the community is electing the winner. While I’m fine with community voting, I didn’t know that the more YFI a person has, the more votes they can cast.
I’m totally new to the Yearn and ETH community. I can only impress people with my art and I don’t know any YFI whales to request their support. I’d rather get disqualified for my art being bad.
As such, I’ve decided to quit this contest. I hope you all could understand.
@saltyfacu @WrongNebula
If it’s not possible to edit the poll and remove my name from the snapshot site, kindly remove my artworks and details posted here in this forum. That would make my presence in the poll irrelevant.
In a way I agree with you. At least, 1 user should have 1 vote . So it’s more fair and it’s more representative of the community. Personally i also missed some grant/contest because of that. More people voted for me, but only “small users”. So if one of the participant is a whale, he is almost sure to win…
But on the other side, it’s the first contest organised here, so thing can be improved and we need feedbacks. Also this type of votes is already implemented. I don’t know how easy it is to made an other type of vote:
1 adresse = 1 vote
Yes, you’re right. They never said the winner would be decided by the YFI community. If so, only an artist from/within the community can be the winner and none else. Now I seriously don’t understand the point of having four judges and a community prize for most likes.
Some clarification for all this, I’m an artist myself, I participated and organized contests in the past, here’s my point of view:
I originally drafted the idea for this contest here
Proposal: NFT design contest in collaboration with RARI, SuperRare etc
I wanted to have three winners, First prize (all categories), second prize (most original), third prize (meme-o-meter, most funny and degen one).
2b. The meme-o-meter prize is based mostly on community vote, maybe the originality prize as well and the first prize is jury based. I added that “One prize should be 100% community based, so that people with a low following count or people who submit via forum can still stand a chance.” I never wanted to use Snapshot for the voting process, forum poll would have been perfect.
I said in the discussion about this contest that “I don’t think counting the number of likes on Twitter is a good voting method, this means artists who have a big following have a large advantage”
I wanted the contest to run from 1st October to 15th October, and have RARIBLE involved! I asked “Any way to get Rarible to Tweet about it, newsletter mention and maybe even a little visual cue on their website?”. I imagined the contest to be announced both by Yearn and Rarible, a real collaboration, with many more artists participating and more than just one prize.
I proposed to create a badge (a POAP) that would be airdropped to everyone who participated in the contest (everyone who sent a submission)
I wanted to let people participate either by replying to the Twitter announcement post (that should be one Tweet, originally from yearn twitter and retweeted by Rari) or on the forum. I added that “We can mention that those who don’t have an account or don’t want to use their Twitter account (maybe for doxxing reasons?) they can submit via the forum thread”
I wanted to postpone the contest for later this year after what happened with blue Kirby and the whole NFT fiasco (bad PR).
Unfortunately this is not how things have been playing out and I’m sad to see that… I hope that we’ll have a better contest, a more organized and planned and better marketed one in the future.
PS: I loved all the submissions, they were great
@WrongNebula this contest was created inspired by your submission. I loved it and carried it to the best of my abilities. It was done in collaboration with Rarible. Even though I would have wished a little bit more involvement from their part.
For me, it’s important to reward community chosen art. That’s why community yUSD prize is the same as the judges prize. The only way I found is to measure social interactions (Twitter likes & RTs). The community chosen art piece is going to be the artwork on the POAPs people will receive.
I agree that it could have been better communicated and I will work on that side for next time.
@saltyfacu I want out of this contest. I can understand if you’re not able to edit the poll to remove my name from snapshot(dot)page. All I’m asking you to do is edit this forum post deleting my artworks and info. This would not only make my presence in the poll irrelevant, but would also better the chance of me selling these artworks on someother NFT platform.
This is a contest you organised. You can do as you please. But this is not what I signed up for. And I would appreciate it if my info and artworks are deleted sooner.
So the community chosen artwork (the artwork with most likes on twitter) will also receive 2000 yUSD? Is that what you’re saying?
Yes. That’s exactly how it goes.
The Larry Gobnik animation can be viewed here (pretty cool): https://twitter.com/LarryGobnik/status/1317148252362444804?s=20
So if I’m a YFI whale with a large number of followers on twitter, I could win both prices and take home 4k.
Seriously, does the artist’s creativity ever get evaluated in this contest?
No, because the two prizes are for different artists. And anyway, if you are a whale you won’t care about 4000 yUSD.
The judges selected some pieces from all the submissions we received putting a lot of attention to creativity, quality, and more.
IMO, the judges should never have the final word. All the community should vote and select the best one.
Hi Fameal,
It looks like I won the contest. How do we move forward with the pictures etc.

Hey @toxicpoeth! Not yet! Remember it’s a joined contest with Rarible. Rarible’s community is still voting. I will announce it here and on Twitter when they voting ends. And I will contact you via DM on Twitter to arrange details

Hey all, reading some concerned and angry posts about using snapshot for this contest and wanted to share my POV. I didn’t have anything to do with this contest and haven’t been tracking it until now.
For some history, our first contest used snapshot and was a great success.
There are no good alternatives to snapshot voting, everything else is worse and until something like Bright ID is widely used there is no way to guarantee one person = one vote. Polls are vulnerable to Sybil attacks.
Oh, OK! Cool
Great, thanks!
The #yRari contest has come to an end. Yearn’s and Rarible’s communities have spoken.
@LarryGobnik & @toxicpoeth fought hard to be the one!
The winner, and the new face of yInsure is the artwork from @toxicpoeth!
Congratulations!
