Burn YFI minting ability permanently

I voted on the snapshot voting area, and it said I have 0 coins, but let me vote, but in the Staking area, it does not reflect that I voted. I do have coins, and used the same wallet, so I’m wondering if others are experiencing this?

Edit: I looked back at snapshot, and looked through all votes and found my vote with the coins reflected. Now wondering when the Staking area recognizes that vote.

Possible that you need the yfi in governance to vote. Would be great if someone more knowledgable can confirm this.

I appreciate this take but think there is power in sticking to one token (unless we rebrand to YFI.A & YFI.B;). Buybacks are certainly a good option for talent acquisition and I’d be fine with that.

I’m still not sure what the protocol gains from burning it vs. leaving it as is? It would make sense if there was a split community with inflation vs. no inflation but as far as I can tell a vast majority wants to keep it as is. That should give buyers enough confidence to buy. 30K hard cap would be great for the meme’s but I don’t really think we are lacking on that front (Thank you Blue Kirby!).

Nope still not working for me. registered, paid the gas. Says I can make proposals, but still no luck on the poll. ?

I disagree.

This will boost price short term, but long term, we don’t want to lose the ability to raise capital from yfi holders for good investments (which boosts the price).

Without minting, we’ll be locked in a suboptimal Nash equilibrium when facing a problem that can be solved with money. Who’s gonna pay for it?

Analogously, companies issue and buy back shares all the time. It’s a financial tool that we don’t want to give up so early.

A compromise: mint some now, put in treasury for future use, burn minting capability.

I was able to vote with my yfi tokens staked in governance. Seems to work on my end. Im using metamask and chrome.

I am staked in governance, metamask, brave browser (sheilds off) on windows

try chrome…could be a browser issue. If it still doesnt work. I would recommend reporting it in the discord channel. Im sure someone would be able to help you.

I don’t have chrome - it looks like the For’s are way ahead. If it comes down to a tie, remember I voted “For!” Ill figure it out, hopefully. If someone knows why I can access the poll properly, please hit me up. Thank you in advance. Rock on

Having similar issue. Vote weight is 0. I assume gov staked YFI works for snapshot?

I haven’t resolved it for myself yet. If you figure out the issue, please let me know.

It might be a UI issue. Try following through with the prompt, clicking vote, and waiting for the page to load. I’ve had it happen before where it took a reload to register.

In addition, it does not work with MetaMask on Android, although the similar vote signaling function used by Curve does work on mobile.

I was hoping that after voting here, I would be able to claim my rewards at https://ygov.finance/stake But I could not. I can’t find a recent thread on the topic. Info and or a link to info is appreciated! Thank you.

I had the same problem, refreshed the page, re-entered my metamask password, and it worked.

Burn. It. down.

As an aside, does burning the mint key also prevent the possibility of re-denominating YFI?

More printing just dilutes value. More YFI will not improve governance. I am for this.

What is the rationale for doing this now so early in the protocol existence? I kind of agree with Rewkang, this move feels a bit premature.
