# Noob questions, staking, vaults and earning yfi

So from what \*I understand, you can no longer earn yfi through the curve y pool. So is the only way using balancer? After an amount is earned i can stake the yfi on yearn.finance? How do vaults work? is it just a form of staking? I earn interest for locking up stable coins? Whats the return?
